Lykke Li

Ive seen this 22 year old, Sweden born singer named Lykke Li on a couple of blogs lately, so i figured i would go listen to a couple of her tracks. Omg, i fell in love. Her lyrics are pure, raw and easy to relate to. at least for me. Her voice is somewhat eary and calming at the same time and will easily get you hooked. nd did i mention her style crazy ! Google her.

The Last Dragon, Remake?

i been hearin tidbits of buzz about a remake being done of the 1980's movie The Last Dragon. Supposedly it's set to be released in 2010. Wu Tang Clan's, RZA is co-producing the movie with Dallas Jackson. Samuel L. Jackson will be playing the infamous Shonuff and rumor has it that Rhianna may be set to play the role as Laura Charles. Im not sure about what i think about this remake. The movie is a classic and I think i can settle with the cheesy special effects on the original lol.

Fashion x Recession

New York fashion week is coming up and i have been hearing about numerous designers pulling out because of today's economic problems. Most lines are forced to cut costs and display their collection in intimate salon/boutique settings, others are forced to not even have a runway show, and some just wont be able to even show their collection at all. To name some; Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, Peter Som, Zac Posen, Alice Temperley, Tracy Reese, Sass & Bride, and Obedient Sons & Daughters. With this, model agencies also cant escape the effects of this recession. Many of the models and staff of big/small name agencies are also being let go.

Fake it till you make it?

If you have a British or Caribbean background, then you should know about this show. it's called Keeping up Appearances. this show is definitely among my favorites. It's about this delusional woman who goes around acting like she is upper class when she really isn't. She goes to every extreme to convince people that she is rich and high up on the social ladder. It's funny because it reminds me of our society today. You know, like the people who spend there rent money just to say they HAVE a louis bag or a pair of jimmy choo's. I cant even front because we are all guilty of spending money we dont have at least once in our lives. But it's unnecessary when someone is doing it just to impress others, like this woman here who is just being plain ridiculous lol. i definitely recommend watching this show; its hilarious. It shows on BBC almost everyday, just not sure exactly at what time.

What should be in your album collection : Res

The other day i was looking through my cds and found my old Res album. Im tellin you, this is one of the best albums you can buy. This girl has been slept on HARD. The album came out back in 2001 from MCA rec. and even Santogold also helped write songs on it. It's a short album, but definatly worth listinin to. Here's a video for her song Golden Boys.
