Jeff Soto
"Through striking visual imagery, Jeff Soto communicates profound visions and fears, nostalgia of his youth, and themes of love, lust, and hope. Soto’s distinct color palette, subject matter, technique and bold themes resonate with a growing audience. Inspired by childhood toys, the colorful lifestyle of skateboarding and graffiti, hip-hop and popular culture, Soto’s representational work is simultaneously accessible and stimulating.
Environmental issues also take precedent for Soto, who is concerned with conflict of humans trying to harness, or take advantage of nature. His paintings exude this tension, as robotic creatures duel, organic tentacles and flower bouquets thrive, and black smog looms amidst floating, ominous skulls."

i never liked rollercoasters....
my life is a never ending roller coaster. Unfortunately 09 isnt running as smoothly as i thought it would be due to some bad descions ive made. ugh but thats life. ive been pretty m.i.a lately, not jus from my blog, but from everything around me (friends, fam, social life, ugh and my weight lol). But anyhoo, ask anybody, i HATE roller coasters. i hate that feeling you get when ur strapped in the seat, sick to ur stomach wondering what the hell u jus got urself into and i hope the man controlling the roller coaster doesnt eff up because u havnt taken over the world yet! But then theres nothing like the end of a roller coaster. You just sitting and laughing and for some odd reason, aside from all the emotions it put you through within that 2 minutes and 53 seconds u end up actually liking that roller coaster. or at the end of it u end up hating it so much that u learned to never get on it again. ugh at the end of all this bs i hope everything going on in my life will turn out like this.

Clearly, she never gives a damn but is incredibly poise at the same time. her style has definatly come a long way since ABC family's So little Time. This is a video from her new spread in Interview mag for march 2009 shot by photographer Craig McDean. oh and if u havnt copped her and her sisters book Influence, please do so, the book is definatly worth buying.

Meet : Avriel
Avriel has been in front of the television cameras most of her young life, starting first with commercials for McDonalds, Washington Mutual, Bumble Ball as well as appearances on Mad TV and Hannah Montana. She then graduated to speaking roles such as the voice of Little Timberly on Nickelodeon's Hey Arnold!, and the leading roles in a number of indie films. But acting and modeling are only a small component of the multi-faceted young teen’s make up. As a singer, producer, songwriter and composer, the young starlet’s musical prowess is enhanced by her formal training as an accomplished pianist, violinist and guitarist making her a quadruple musical threat. The hint of husk which coats her vocal chords, and the maturity of her insightful songwriting gives the young songstress the spirit of an old soul who has been here before (source).
I love coming across artist who are truly talented and passionate about what they create. Avriel's style is refreshing and new. She is definitely among the few artist that i don't get that heavy copy and paste vibe from. Do listen to her music and expect to see her name again pretty soon.
NAME: Avriel SIGN: Aries BASED: LA AGE: 17 WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING: My desire to learn new things 3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU: artistic, well-read, empathetic (FILL IN THE BLANK) i'LL RETIRE WHEN _____: I don't think you can ever retire from being an artist. At least I don't ever want to retire from that. FAVORITE DESIGNER: Gareth Pugh. I idolize him. HAD MOST FUN WORKING WITH(in terms of music or modeling): I've worked with so many talented and amazing people in this industry, I honestly couldn't say. LOOK FORWORD TO DURING 09: Well I'm going to be featured on a Vimby Mixtape coming out a little later this month called The New Classics, so check that out! DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC STYLE: Pop Progressive. A little bit of Andre 3000 meets Kelis. But, everything I?m working on now is very textural and futuristic, think N.E.R.D. meets Animal Collective. (FILL IN THE BLANK) DONT TOUCH MY ______ : Biscuits! I loooooove biscuits. Honey's Kettle biscuits are my absolute favorite! NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT: My blackberry. Sad to say I am addicted. WHAT ARTIST INFLUENCED YOU: I am influenced by everything i hear, honestly. I try to take something from every piece of music i listen to. (FILL IN THE BLANK) I CANT STAND ______ : cliches! or illiterate people. There's never an excuse to be illiterate, public libraries are free and open to the public. READ A BOOK! haha. FASHION SPECTATOR OR INNOVATOR? Both. I feel learning and creating go hand in hand. You have to observe what other people do, then imitate first, emulate second, and innovate lastly. Even if the outside world doesn't witness the first two steps, it's still important to understand what came before you to figure out how to improve upon it. That's the only way to keep progressing in any art form. TRENDS/FADS THAT ERK YOU: The whole 80s/90s kid trend. Thank God that's finally going out of style! the 90s grunge look doesn't bother me as much. But, there's a reason why Gareth is my favorite designer. I like when artists push boundaries and look to the future! FAVORITE MAGAZINE or BOOK: Italian Vogue and W are my favorite magazines. My favorite two books of all time are Letters To a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke, and the Conversations With God series by Neale Donald Walsch MOVIE CHARACTER U WOULD LIKE TO BE IN REAL LIFE: This is really cliche, so i hate to say it, but I was the real life Holly Golightly in my past life. HEAVY ROTATION SONGS ON YOUR PLAYLIST: In my itunes the songs with the highest play count are Easy To Please by Coldplay, Take Off Your Cool by Andre 3000 and Norah Jones, and Skinny Love by Bon Iver DUMBEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE: I'm a klutz, I lie, and get caught, and break rules consistently. I do numerous dumb things every day. haha FAVORITE QUOTE: "Things are not all so comprehensible and expressible as one would mostly have us believe; most events are inexpressible, taking place in a realm which no word has ever entered, and more inexpressible than all else are works of ark, mysterious existences, the life of which, while ours passes away, endures." -Rainer Maria Rilke LAST WORD FOR THE KIDDIES : ummm... mysapce me!!! =] haha www.myspace.com/Avriel
